| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, rendered in high relief in the provincial Alexandrian style. The laureate wreath is depicted with fine detail, and drapery falls over the left shoulder. The bearded portrait displays the characteristic physiognomy of Hadrian's mature coinage. The surrounding Greek legend, partially visible on the flan, identifies the emperor by his imperial titulature. The flan shows characteristic irregularity typical of Alexandrian bronze production of the early second century AD. |
