In his right hand he holds a reed and in his left a cornucopia, symbolising the fertility and abundance of the Nile flood. The regnal year date appears in the field. This reverse type was a hallmark of Alexandrian civic pride, celebrating the Nile as the source of Egypt's agricultural prosperity. |
