Obverse description Bare-shouldered, laureate bust of the emperor Hadrian facing right, unbearded, with drapery visible on the left shoulder. The portrait displays the characteristic close-cropped Hadrianic curls rendered in the Alexandrian provincial style. A Greek legend encircles the effigy along the border, with a dotted inner border visible. The portrait type is consistent with the earliest coinage of Hadrian's reign, prior to the adoption of his beard.

The regnal date appears in the field, marking this issue to the second year of Hadrian's reign in the Egyptian calendar.
