| Beschrijving keerzijde | Dionysus, the patron deity of Tralles, depicted standing and facing right, his body leaning upon a youthful satyr or figure beside him; at his feet crouches a panther, his sacred animal. The god is shown in relaxed contrapposto, holding his characteristic attributes, in a composition typical of provincial Dionysiac iconography from Asia Minor under the Severan and Gordian dynasties. The civic legend of the Trallians, naming the grammateus Eukarpos as the issuing magistrate, runs around the periphery within a dotted border. |
