Obverse description Laureate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Caracalla facing right, portrayed in three-quarter frontal view, with a gorgoneion (Medusa head apotropaic device) prominently displayed on the breastplate of the cuirass. The imperial titulature legend runs around the periphery of the flan in Greek characters. The bust displays the characteristic portraiture style of Caracalla with strong, youthful features typical of his earlier coinage.
