Obverse description Laureate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Caracalla facing right, depicted from the front, the breastplate prominently ornamented with a gorgoneion at the centre. The effigy is rendered in the typical provincial Roman style, with the laureate wreath clearly delineated around the head. The encircling Greek legend reads ΑΥ ΚΑΙ Μ ΑΥΡ ΑΝΤΩΝΙΝΟϹ, identifying the emperor by his full imperial titulature. The overall execution is characteristic of the civic bronze coinage struck under the Severan dynasty in Asia Minor.
