| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Caracalla facing right, seen from the rear, rendered in the robust provincial style characteristic of the Lydian mint of Hypaepa. The emperor's portrait displays a wreath of laurel leaves and the muscular detailing of the cuirass, with drapery visible over the left shoulder. The surrounding Greek legend is disposed around the bust within a beaded border. The portrait displays the strong, broad features typical of Caracalla's iconography during his sole reign. |
