Reverse description Orpheus seated in three-quarter view upon rocky ground, his body turned to the right, playing a lyre held in both hands. The mythological scene depicts the legendary musician charming a gathering of animals arranged around him in the field, including what appear to be felines and other beasts rendered in low relief. The composition fills the broad flan and reflects the sophisticated mythological iconography favoured by the Alexandrian mint for its larger denomination bronzes. No border legend is present, with only the regnal year mark placed in the field.
