| Beschrijving keerzijde | Isis enthroned facing right, wearing the basileion (crown of Isis consisting of a sun-disk flanked by cow's horns), seated upon a throne. Upon her knee sits the infant Harpocrates, crowned with the double crown of Egypt (skhent), holding a lotus-flower and raising his right hand in the characteristic gesture of childhood. A hydreion (sacred water vessel) upon a base is depicted before the enthroned goddess, referencing the Nile cult. The composition is a classic Alexandrian religious type reflecting the syncretism of the Egyptian imperial coinage. |
