| Obverse description | Laureate, draped bust of Antoninus Pius facing right, rendered in the Alexandrian provincial style with finely detailed hair and beard. The laurel wreath is rendered with individuated leaves encircling the head. A paludamentum or drapery is visible at the truncation of the shoulder. The Greek imperial legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan. The portrait exhibits the characteristic mature physiognomy of the emperor, with a full beard rendered in rounded locks. |
