| 裏面の説明 | Reverse type depicting the mythological scene of Heracles subduing the Amazon Hippolyte, one of the canonical Twelve Labours. Heracles stands to the right, wearing the Nemean lion skin draped over his arm and bearing his club over his shoulder, grasping the girdle of the Amazon queen Hippolyte, who lies prostrate upon her fallen horse. Beneath the horse, an axe is visible in the lower field. The date legend appears in the exergual area. The composition is rendered in the lively, narrative style characteristic of Alexandrian bronze coinage. |

Year ten of Antoninus Pius's reign — marked by L ΔΕΚΑΤΟΥ — falls squarely within the most administratively stable stretch of the Roman imperial period, but Alexandria's civic bronze issues from this decade carry their own specific interest. The Alexandrian mint operated under the prefect of Egypt and produced regnal-year dated coinage in a system entirely separate from the Roman provincial norm, making Egyptian bronzes one of the few series where absolute dating to a twelve-month window is routine rather than exceptional.
