Year six of Antoninus Pius's reign, which this coin marks by its regnal date, fell during a period of unusual administrative stability in Roman Egypt — Antoninus never visited the province, governing it entirely through prefects, making his Egyptian coinage a curious proxy for a ruler who never set foot on the soil that produced it.
