To the left, the cult statue of Artemis of Ephesus stands frontally, wearing a kalathos (cylindrical headdress) and adorned with characteristic multiple supports along the body, rendered in the canonical xoanon-like form. To the right, Demeter strides rightward with head turned to face the viewer, bearing a torch in each raised hand, symbolising her role as goddess of the harvest and mysteries. The pairing of these two venerated divinities under the Homonoia legend evokes the theme of concord between cities. The reverse legend in Greek letters references the local magistrate responsible for the issue. |
