| Beschrijving keerzijde | Heracles stands facing at centre, his head turned to the right, his right hand resting upon a grounded club while his left arm supports the bow and the Nemean lion skin. Before him rises the tree of the Garden of the Hesperides, laden with golden apples and entwined by the guardian serpent Ladon. Behind the tree, the three Hesperides are depicted with their arms raised in a gesture of lamentation or supplication, evoking the moment of the hero's approach. The composition, a rare mythological type in Lydian provincial coinage, alludes to the eleventh labour of Heracles and carries strong local religious resonance. The encircling legend names the magistrate Titianus as high priest and dedicant to the citizens of Temenothyrae. |
