| Beschrijving keerzijde | An octastyle temple set on a podium of four steps occupies the full reverse field, its elaborate architectural facade rendered with columns, entablature, and pediment in the local Ephesian style. Within the cella stands the iconic cult image of Artemis of Ephesus (Artemis Ephesia) in her characteristic frontal, swathed form, flanked by two stags at her sides. A six-pointed star appears in the upper left field and a crescent moon in the upper right field, both serving as celestial symbols associated with the goddess. The reverse legend encircling the design proclaims Ephesus as the foremost city of Asia. |
