| Beschrijving keerzijde | Two nude standing figures, identified as the Kabeiroi, face one another on either side of a large rounded altar, jointly presenting or suspending a ram's head above it. The Kabeiroi are rendered in a frontal, symmetrical composition characteristic of Pergamene civic coinage, each figure standing in a slightly contrapposto pose. A multi-line Greek legend occupies the upper field and exergue, recording the name and titles of the presiding magistrate and affirming Pergamum's status as the foremost thrice-neocorate city. The scene evokes local mystery cult traditions associated with the Kabeiran deities. |
