Additional information

Year 20 of Trajan's reign — L Κ marking the Egyptian regnal year — places this issue in the final stretch of his Dacian-war financing period, though by 116 the emperor had pivoted east, campaigning deep into Parthia and briefly capturing Ctesiphon. The Alexandrian mint continued striking dated bronzes through the chaos of those eastern campaigns, and Trajan died in August 117 before returning to Rome, making any coin dated to year 20 a piece produced under an emperor who would never see Egypt again.
