The serpents are rendered with coiling bodies and outstretched wings, a distinctly Alexandrian religious motif evoking the sacred serpents of Egyptian cult. The date regnal legend appears in the upper field. The overall composition reflects the syncretic Greco-Egyptian religious iconography characteristic of Alexandrian civic coinage under the Roman emperors.
