Reverse description Emperor Trajan, laureate and togate, standing in a quadriga drawn by four elephants advancing to the right, holding an eagle-tipped sceptre in one hand and a branch in the other. A small figure of Nike (Victory) hovers above the scene, conferring divine sanction upon the triumphal composition. The elephant quadriga is a rare and prestigious reverse type, referencing Trajan's celebrated Dacian triumphs. The regnal year date appears in the field. The design reflects the high-quality artistic conventions of the Alexandrian mint under the early Antonine period.
