Obverse description Laureate bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, portrayed nude with an aegis draped over the left shoulder, rendered in the bold provincial style characteristic of Alexandrian coinage. The imperial effigy is depicted with strong, idealised facial features consistent with Trajanic portraiture. The surrounding field carries the Greek imperial titulature legend. The flan is irregular and the surface shows the typical granular patina of heavily circulated Egyptian bronze. Overall fabric and style are consistent with the output of the Alexandrian mint during the sixteenth regnal year.
