Obverse description Laureate head of Emperor Trajan facing right, with drapery visible on the left shoulder, rendered in the characteristic provincial style of the Ionian conventus. The imperial effigy is depicted in right-facing profile, the laureate wreath clearly articulated around the head. The Greek legend encircles the bust, naming the emperor with his full titulature. The portrait exhibits the strong, naturalistic features associated with Trajanic portraiture of the early second century AD.
