Obverse description Bare head of Emperor Tiberius facing right, rendered in the restrained Classical style typical of early Imperial provincial coinage. The portrait displays finely articulated hair swept forward over the brow, with strong facial features befitting the imperial effigy. A circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait, reading IMP · TI · CAESAR · AVGVSTVS · PON · MAX, distributed around the periphery of the flan. The flan is irregular in shape, a characteristic of hammered Hispanic provincial issues, with some weakness at the edges. The overall style reflects the competent but provincial die-cutting tradition of Hispania Baetica under Tiberius.
