| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Severus Alexander facing right, the emperor's youthful features rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Phrygian civic coinage. The obverse legend runs in Greek characters around the periphery of the flan, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. The die work shows the broad, slightly irregular strike typical of issues from the Philomelium mint workshop. |

| Reverse description | The emperor depicted on horseback advancing to the right, clad in a billowing chlamys and brandishing a spear held diagonally across the body, in the manner of a triumphant military commander. The horse is shown in vigorous motion, with the near foreleg raised, conveying imperial power and martial authority. The reverse field is occupied by the equestrian group, with the encircling Greek legend naming the city of Philomelium and the local magistrate Paulus, son of Hadrianus, under whose authority the coin was struck. |
