Hadrianopolis in Phrygia — not to be confused with the more famous Thracian city — was a minor civic mint operating under the authority of the Conventus of Philomelium. The magistrate name preserved in the legend, Menophilos, is otherwise sparsely attested, and the garbled ΕΠΙ Χ abbreviation preceding it suggests either a die-cutter working from a damaged or hastily prepared template, or a compressed formula for the fuller epistrategos title. These small Phrygian civic bronzes were produced in short runs tied to local festival or administrative cycles rather than any sustained civic coinage program.
