| Obverse description | Draped bust of Julia Domna facing right, with her characteristic elaborate coiffure of ridged waves arranged in a diadem-like fashion above the forehead and a large bun at the nape of the neck. The empress is depicted with finely rendered drapery visible at the truncation. The surrounding field carries a beaded border, with the Greek legend distributed around the bust reading ΙΟΥΛΙΑ ΔΟΜΝΑ ϹΕΒΑϹ, identifying her as Julia Domna Augusta. The portrait displays the high-relief provincial style typical of Phrygian civic coinage of the Severan period. |

| Reverse description | The nymph Amaltheia, turreted and standing to the right, holds a sceptre in her right hand and cradles the infant Zeus in her left arm. At her feet to the right, a goat stands looking upward, referencing the mythological nursing of Zeus on Crete. The composition is rendered in the characteristic style of Phrygian civic bronzes, with the reverse legend ϹΥΝΝΑΔΕΩΝ distributed around the type, identifying the issuing city of Synnada. A beaded border frames the design. |
