| Obverse description | Radiate bust of Septimius Severus facing right, depicted with characteristic beard and wearing a radiate crown, the rays rendered prominently above the head. The bust appears draped and cuirassed, with the emperor's effigy presented in the conventional provincial portrait style of the Severan period. The obverse legend is disposed around the periphery in Greek characters, identifying the emperor by his full imperial titulature. The flan is somewhat irregular, and the surface shows patination consistent with a circulated provincial bronze. |

| Reverse description | A war galley (trireme) advancing to the right, rendered with detailed oars and hull, manned by six rowers visible along the oar bank; above the galley, two tetrastyle or hexastyle temple facades are depicted side by side, each with a columned portico and pediment, referencing Nicomedia's twice-awarded neocorate status. The scene is framed by the encircling Greek legend identifying the city and its imperial cult honors. The composition is a celebrated type among Bithynian provincial issues, directly proclaiming Nicomedia's pride as a twice-neocorate city through the dual temple motif. |
