Additional information

Pupienus and Balbinus were co-emperors for just 99 days in 238 AD — the Year of the Six Emperors — before the Praetorian Guard murdered both men and dragged their bodies through the streets of Rome. Provincial mints across Phrygia, including Prymnessus, had barely enough time to produce joint issues before the political situation rendered them obsolete. The speed of that reign is why surviving bronzes naming both emperors together are structurally scarce regardless of condition.
