The Alexandrian mint continued operating under the prefectural administration largely independent of Roman senatorial politics, which meant production rhythms in Egypt often reflected local festival calendars as much as imperial directives. Philip was dead within three years, killed at Verona after Decius's troops declared their commander emperor.
