| Beschrijving voorzijde | Confronted jugate busts of Philip II, laureate, draped and cuirassed, facing right, and Philip I, radiate, draped and cuirassed, facing left, arranged vis-à-vis within a laurel wreath border. The obverse legend encircles the double imperial effigies, identifying both Philippi as Augustan Caesars. The die-cutting reflects the provincial workshop style of Phrygia, with competent but somewhat informal portraiture characteristic of Appia's civic coinage. |
