| Reverse description | Two turreted Tychai, personifications of the cities of Mytilene and Adramyteum, standing facing one another in a dexiosis (handshake) composition, each figure holding a long transverse sceptre. The design celebrates the homonoia (civic concord) between the two allied cities of Mytilene on Lesbos and Adramyteum in Mysia. The arrangement is symmetrical, with both figures draped and crowned with mural (turreted) crowns emblematic of their respective cities. The reverse legend ] ΑΔΡΑΜΥΤΗΝΩΝ ΚΑΙ ΜΥΤΙΛΗΝΑΙΩΝ names both cities in the genitive case. |
