The composition is characteristic of the elaborate mythological reverse types favored by the civic coinage of Mytilene on Lesbos. The reverse legend names the local strategos Pompeius Tryphonianus as magistrate responsible for the issue, along with the ethnic ΜΥΤΙΛ identifying the mint city. |
