Obverse description Bare-headed and laureate bust of Emperor Hadrian facing left, with short curly hair and clipped beard rendered in the characteristic Hadrianic style. The effigy displays a draped and cuirassed bust, with the portrait exhibiting the strong facial features typical of Alexandrian provincial coinage of the period. The encircling legend in Greek characters runs around the obverse field, identifying the emperor by his full imperial titulature. The flan shows the broad, slightly irregular fabric characteristic of hammered Alexandrian bronze issues of the second century AD.
