Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of the emperor Hadrian facing right, portrayed in three-quarter view from the rear in the characteristic Alexandrian style. The imperial effigy displays detailed rendering of the paludamentum and cuirass. The surrounding Greek legend identifies the emperor by his full titulature, reading from upper left around the field. The portrait reflects the mature, bearded likeness of Hadrian as established on Egyptian provincial coinage of his later regnal years.
