Additional information

The Koinon of Bithynia — the provincial league of cities in the Roman province of Bithynia et Pontus — issued coins collectively rather than through any single civic mint, a practice tied directly to the imperial cult and the league's role in organizing festivals and religious observances in Hadrian's honor. Hadrian visited the province personally, and his relationship with Bithynia carried particular weight given that his companion Antinous was born there, near the city of Claudiopolis.

Provincial bronze of this module from the Bithynian koinon is scarcer than civic issues from the major cities of the province such as Nicomedia or Nicaea.
