| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, rendered in three-quarter rear view, the radiate crown with pronounced spikes clearly visible above the youthful imperial portrait. The cuirass is elaborately decorated with pteruges at the shoulder, and the paludamentum is fastened at the right shoulder. The encircling Greek legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan. The portrait exhibits the characteristic youthful features associated with Gordian III's civic coinage from Bithynian mints. |
