| Reverse description | The reverse presents two standing female figures in an antithetical arrangement within the open field. To the left, Isis of Aegae stands facing, with her head turned to the right, wearing the basilium (solar crown of Isis) and holding a long sceptre in one hand and a situla (ritual bucket) in the other, referencing the prominent local cult of Isis at Aegae. To the right, the legendary Amazon Myrina, eponymous founder of the city of Myrina, stands facing left, holding a jar and a spear, emblematic of the Aeolian civic identity. The reverse legend ΕΠΙ ϹΤΡΑ ΦΙΛΑΔΕΛΦΟΥ ΑΙΓΑΕΩΝ ΜΥΡΙΝΑΙΩΝ names the strategos Philadelphos and records the joint civic identity of Aegae and Myrina. |
