The reverse legend ϹΤΡΑ Λ οΥΕΤ ΑΝΤΩΝΕΙΝΟΥ ΥΡΚΑΝΩΝ ΜΑΚΕΔΟΝ, distributed around the type in Greek majuscules, names the strategos L. Vettius Antoninus and identifies the issuing community of Hyrcanis with its Macedonian heritage. The composition reflects the Hellenistic artistic tradition preserved in Lydian civic coinage of the Antonine period. |
