Reverse description Four nude boys personifying the four Seasons (Horae) depicted in animated, playful poses within the field, representing the concept of prosperous and fortunate times. The figures are arranged in a lively grouping typical of Laodicean civic iconography, conveying abundance and well-being under imperial rule. A horizontal tablet or tabula in the lower portion of the reverse carries part of the civic legend, separated from the figural scene above by a ground line. The reverse type is characteristic of the neocorate issues of Laodicea ad Lycum and is framed by a dotted border.
