Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Caracalla facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and short beard. The emperor's effigy displays strong portraiture characteristic of Alexandrian provincial coinage, with a radiate crown of laurel leaves atop curled locks. The Greek imperial legend encircles the bust along the periphery of the flan, running from left to right. The lower field bears additional lettering, and the overall style reflects the vigorous engraving tradition of the Alexandrian mint under the Severan dynasty.
