Reverse description An eagle stands facing right upon a low base or ground line, with its head turned back to the left and wings spread outward in a heraldic display. The bird holds a wreath in its beak, a motif closely associated with Alexandrian imperial bronze coinage of the Antonine period. The date regnal legend L ΚΑ (year 21) appears in the field, identifying this issue to the twenty-first year of Antoninus Pius's reign. The engraving, though worn, conveys the characteristic Alexandrian rendering of the eagle type with boldly delineated feathers. The reverse flan is irregular with areas of pitting and encrustation.
