Regnal year 20 of Antoninus Pius, placing this squarely in one of the most administratively stable decades the Roman Empire ever produced — which is precisely why Alexandrian bronze from this period is so often overlooked. The Alexandria mint under the Antonines operated as a closed currency system; provincials could not legally use Roman imperial coinage, forcing all Egyptian commerce through locally struck pieces like this one.
