| Reverse description | Cybele, the Phrygian mother goddess, enthroned and facing left, depicted wearing a veil and a turreted crown. She holds a patera in her extended right hand and rests her left arm upon a tympanum set on the throne beside her. The throne is flanked on each side by a recumbent lion, her traditional divine attributes. The regnal date appears in the left field as a Greek date formula. The composition is typical of Alexandrian syncretistic imagery blending Greek, Roman, and Eastern religious iconography. |
