| Obverse description | Draped and cuirassed bust of Antoninus Pius, laureate, facing left, wearing the paludamentum over the shoulder. The emperor's portrait is rendered in the characteristic Antonine style, with a softly modelled face and neatly arranged laurel wreath. The Greek imperial legend encircles the bust, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. The flan is irregular and heavily patinated, with surfaces obscured by encrustation, yet the broad, bold portrait type remains consistent with Alexandrian drachm coinage of regnal year 18. |
