正面描述 Laureate head of Emperor Antoninus Pius facing right, with traces of drapery visible at the shoulder truncation. The effigy is rendered in the characteristic Antonine portrait style, with a wreath of laurel leaves crowning the head. The encircling Greek legend occupies the field around the portrait, divided across the obverse. The flan exhibits the slightly irregular edges typical of Alexandrian provincial bronze coinage of this period.

附加信息

Year 18 of Antoninus Pius's reign, which this coin's regnal dating marks, fell during one of the most administratively stable periods in Roman Egypt — no military crisis, no succession drama, no debasement pressure. Alexandria's mint produced heavily in bronze during these middle years of his reign precisely because the Egyptian economy ran on a closed currency system, isolating it from the rest of the empire and requiring constant local supply. Coins minted here were legally non-exportable and would have been exchanged at the border for Roman currency.

The L ΙΗ dating convention — using the Egyptian regnal year rather than Roman consular dating — is specific to Alexandrian issues throughout the imperial period.
