Eutheneia — the personification of abundance — appeared on Alexandrian bronzes with particular frequency under Antoninus Pius, reflecting the ideological effort to associate his reign with prosperity after the turbulent final years of Hadrian. The regnal year L Β marks this as among the earliest Alexandrian issues of his reign, struck within months of his accession in July 138.
Alexandria's civic mint operated under close imperial supervision, producing dated regnal bronzes in a way no western mint did — the Egyptian calendar year stamped directly on the coin remains the primary tool for sequencing these issues today.
