Reverse description A multi-line Greek votive inscription enclosed within a laurel or olive wreath, filling the entire reverse field. The text records the name and title of the local grammateus (civic secretary) Aurelius Epanodos, son of Charigenes, acting on behalf of the citizens of Nysa, in connection with the religious festival known as the Theogamia. A circular Greek legend surrounds the wreath border. This type of honorific reverse is characteristic of civic bronze issues from the cities of the Lydian-Carian region during the joint reign of Valerian and Gallienus.
