Additional information

The Koinon of Galatia was the provincial assembly established after Augustus reorganized the region following its annexation in 25 BC, and it retained the right to strike bronze coinage in Trajan's reign largely as a ceremonial function — affirming loyalty to Rome through the very act of minting. Provincial issues from Galatia under Trajan are modestly documented, and RPC III 2855 represents one of the better-catalogued types from this authority, though die studies remain incomplete and survivor populations across collections are small.
