Reverse description The Tyche of Edessa seated left upon rocky ground, holding ears of corn in her extended right hand; before her feet, a small lighted altar. A star appears in the upper left and upper right fields, flanking the seated figure symmetrically. In the exergue, a river god (the Daisan/Skirtos) swims to the left, personifying the local river of Edessa. The reverse legend in Greek encircles the composition, identifying the city.
