| Obverse description | Draped bust of Julia Domna facing right, her hair elaborately waved and coiled in the characteristic Severan style, pulled back and arranged in a bun at the nape of the neck. The empress is depicted with fine classical features, wearing a chiton visible at the shoulder. The obverse legend runs around the periphery of the flan, partially bordered by a beaded or dotted inner circle. The portrait displays the assured, idealized modeling typical of provincial bronze coinage struck under the Severan dynasty. |
