| Beschrijving keerzijde | A war galley depicted in left profile under sail, with a helmsman (pilot) seated at the stern managing the steering oar, conveying the maritime significance of the city of Caesarea Germanica. Beneath the galley in the lower field, a bull reclines to the right with its head turned back to the left, serving as a secondary civic emblem of the mint city. The reverse legend naming the issuing city is distributed in the field surrounding the principal devices. The composition makes effective use of the available flan space, with the galley occupying the upper register and the recumbent bull filling the exergual area. The engraving style is consistent with provincial Bithynian bronze issues of the Severan period. |
